Kamal Masi’s Rose Rice Pudding Recipe
A Springtime Treat
Spring brings us flowers, and my mother used to find some way or another to add floral touches to our home. She’d put flowers in every room, and sometimes she’d add them to our meals as well!
My favorite dessert growing up was rose rice pudding. It’s fairly easy to make, but its simplicity belies its decadence.
KAMAL MASI'S ROSE RICE PUDDING
Serving Size: 5
Prep Time: 30 minutes
1 cup basmati rice
2 1/2 cups water
4-6 teaspoons rose water
3 drops red food coloring
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1/4 tablespoon crushed cardamom seeds
1/4 tablespoon crushed cloves
1 1/4 cup of raisins
5-6 rose petals (garnish)
Wash rice and place into a pot with water. Once the water begins to boil, reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer until rice is soft
Mix the cooked rice and food coloring in a mixing bowl until the rice is evenly colored
Add crushed cloves, crushed cardamom, raisins, and rosewater
Place mixture into small bowls and refrigerate for 3 hours
Before serving, drizzle honey on top of each bowl and garnish each serving with rose petals
