Our (Favorite) Chai Recipe

Overview

  • Serving Size: 2 cups
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 ¼ cups milk (to taste)
  • 2 teabags of black tea (or 1 ½ teaspoons black tea leaves)
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar (to taste)
  • 2 cloves (or 1/4 teaspoon clove powder)

Optional Ingredients Instructions (to taste)

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon or a “pinch” of carom seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 2 slivers of fresh ginger

Instructions

  • Combine water, tea bags, and all other ingredients (except the milk!) in a small pot
  • Place on high heat and bring to a boil
  • Add milk and return to a boil
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 minute
  • Using a strainer, pour into 2 cups
  • Enjoy!
