Growing up in an immigrant family has shaped Arun's commitment to community and communal living. His vision brings together multiple generations to live, play, and spend time together in vibrant, warm spaces. His vision also includes all-you-can eat dosa parties. If there's a way to combine chilaquiles and dosas into one tasty meal, Arun would be the first in line to sample it! Whether exploring underground caves in Belize or roaming the streets of Tokyo, Arun's passion for world travel inspires his work.
RACHNA PATEL, Administration
As a young girl, Rachna's grandfather came to live with her family every summer. She grew up knowing in her bones the important role seniors have in the family unit. The transformative effect of community living inspires Rachna everyday. When she’s not busy doing a little of everything at Priya Living, you might find her running around the park with her daughters or cuddling her white, noisy family cat, Houston. One of Rachna’s lifelong goals is travel to all the earth’s continents. She's made it to four so far.
GUNDI VIGUSSON, Project Manager
Gundi is a maker, plain and simple. When he was a kid growing up in Iceland, the brakes failed on his BMX bike. His grandfather, without batting an eyelid, built new brakes from scratch. Gundi carries that ingenuity and self-reliance with him to this day. And when he’s not diligently transforming Priya Living spaces into something fabulous, you’ll find him making something. It could be gorgeous, colorful photographs. It could be whimsical light sculptures. Some day, it could be a BMX bike from scratch.
MAHESH NIHALANI, Community Director
Make 'em laugh. That's Mahesh's motto. Once he swallowed a shilling coin while doing a magic trick for kids. He had to endure a small surgical procedure to remove the coin. But it's a small price to pay for someone whose lifelong goal is to serve as an ambassador of happiness for all people--young, old, and all those in the between. It’s no surprise that Mahesh was awarded “Citizen of the Year” by the City of Cupertino. His exuberant love of community adds joy to Priya Living activities.
NAMITA KAPOOR, Creative Director
On any given day, you’ll find Namita creating something. Whether she's designing living spaces; painting installations and murals; or dancing and choreographing shows, she's always in the flow. Namita comes from a gregarious, Punjabi family who have inspired her to make Priya Living an inviting place for the whole family with its bold, vibrant colors and stylish decor. One of her best-kept secrets? She inherited a love of puns from her Mom. You could say it puns in the family.
SALIM SHAIKH, Lifestyle Ambassador
Salim's father taught him to live life to the fullest. Hence, he’s visited the bottom of a grave, ridden a live bull in Barcelona, and worshipped Evel Knievel since childhood. When he’s not working, you’ll find Salim trying to fix something, anything, that is broken. But don’t let these macho pursuits fool you. He also knows how to tie a sari. Why? He's preparing for his daughter's wedding. And he’s got time. She's only seven. For now, they enjoy making pancakes together on Sunday mornings.
NIRMALA NICHANI, Lifestyle Ambassador
Nirmala wanted to be a flight attendant when she was a kid. Life had a different plan for her, but she’s still managed to travel deep under the sea in a submarine and as far afield as Australia. Her mother is her hero and from whom she learned to be an independent woman. When she’s not working you’ll find her cooking up storm of new recipes or taking day trips with her friends. For her, Priya Living is a home away from home.
ELIAS LOPEZ, Operations Manager
Elias loves his job at Priya Living because nothing feels more rewarding for him than helping seniors and developing strong bonds with them. While his dream is to travel to Paris someday, he's definitely his happiest spending time with his family. One the weekend you’ll find him snuggling with his two, young daughters.
