Our Chai Recipe

 
 
Chai Recipe
 
 
 

Serving Size: 2 cups

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups water

  • 1 1/4 cups milk (to taste)

  • 2 teabags of black tea (or 1 1/2 teaspoons black tea leaves)

  • 2 teaspoons of sugar (to taste)

  • 2 or 3 pieces cardamom, crushed (or 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder)

  • 2 cloves (or 1/4 teaspoon clove powder)

Optional Ingredients:

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon or a “pinch” of carom seeds

  • 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds

  • 2 slivers of fresh ginger

Instructions:

  1. Combine water, tea bags, and all other ingredients (except the milk!) in a small pot

  2. Place on high heat and bring to a boil

  3. Add milk and return to a boil

  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 minute

  5. Using a strainer, pour into 2 cups

  6. Enjoy!
